The Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring(DREAM) Trivandrum organised a meeting on 28 April 2023 with the funding agency and the team from BREADS to review the progress made by the project from November 2021 to March 2023.
Fr Jiji Kalavanal SDB(Rector, don Bosco Veedu Society) welcomed the gathering and appreciated the activities and impact created by the project during the working period. He emphasised the importance of the programme in empowering children and youth to dream beyond drugs. The gathering also witnessed the releasing of the social media initiatives by the team DREAM, Mudrika, a Video on Indian sign language, Bhodana, social media, one month social media awareness campaign and Kara, the photo story.
Ms. Susanne Arzt (Project Manager, DB Mondo, Germany) discussed the success and impact of the DREAM programme over the past 1.5 years in the lives of children and youth. Ms. Susanne appreciated the efforts of the DREAM team and the effectiveness of the programme in addressing the issue of drug abuse among young people.
The team also had a meeting with the assistance excise commissioner Trivandrum. Where the collaboration with the government projects in the success implementation of project DREAM was discussed.
Ms Neha Joseph (Coordinator, DREAM Trivandrum) presented an update on the DREAM programmes, highlighting the achievements and challenges faced during the period from November 2021 to March 2023. she emphasised the need to enhance the programme’s reach and effectiveness in the target areas. Fr Saji Elambaseril, the director DREAM Trivandrum discussed ways to enhance the programme’s effectiveness, such as increasing community engagement, strengthening partnerships with local stakeholders, and leveraging technology for programme delivery. Inputs from the various stakeholders of DREAM, including parents, teachers, trained ambassadors and local corporate partners, were also shared during the meeting.
