Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society is part of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) congregation spread over 131 countries and working for the welfare of children and youth especially those at risk founded by Don Bosco, a 19th century educationalist from Italy.
The society is a registered non profit, charitable society under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955 (965/91). Constituted in the year 1991, we offer services to the children, young and women at risk in the district of Trivandrum and across Kerala state.
Children and youth living on the streets, child labourers, abandoned / orphaned children, migrant labourers, victims of drug abuse, victims of child abuse, begging children, rag pickers and other children in need of care and protection are our target group.
Our Mission is to reach out and rescue children and youth at risk: to protect them; to restore them; to inspire them towards a dignified life protected from abusive situations, to advocate on their behalf, to restore their rights and to be catalysts in the formation of a child friendly society.
Our Vision is to create a child friendly society by collectively acting as catalysts to transform people to think and act in favour of children especially those at risk.
The children are empowered through the project of rescue and rehabilitation of street children, providing temperory shelter for child in need of care and protection, conducting annual summer camps, free evening tuitions for the slum children and by providing services for the child addicts every year.
Women are empowered through gender equality, livelihood, education and skill training programs every year.
The youth from the disadvantaged community are empowered through motivational camps every year.
What We Do
Kerala Interstate Migrants Alliance for Transformation is a collective effort by Don Bosco to reach out to the growing population of young inter-state migrants at risk across 11 districts in the State of Kerala, India with welfare measures to address exploitation and poor living conditions. This project is being implemented in Karimadom, an urban slum in the city of Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Majority of the people are head load workers in the market place and the needs of their children are often unattended. CHILDLINE is 24 hour free emergency outreach service for children in distress under the ministry of Women and Child Development with the support of Non-profits and different Government departments. Toll free number 1098 is used to reach the distress message to CHILDLINE call centre which will be connected to each district intervention unit.
