Karimadom colony, June 11, Trainees Rubisri, Anusha, and Arathi from the Don Bosco Veedu organization conducted a comprehensive awareness programme at Karimadom Colony, marking World Day Against Child Labour. The event aimed to educate the children, who regularly attend the organization’s evening classes, about the critical issue of child labour.
The programme included an informative session where the trainees explained the definition of child labour, its causes, and the severe impact it has on children’s lives. They discussed various prevention strategies and highlighted the significant acts and policies enacted by the government to combat child labour. The session also introduced Childline, a crucial resource for children in need of help and protection.
In addition to the presentations, the trainees facilitated a lively question-and-answer session, encouraging the children to engage with the topic and gain deeper insights. This interactive segment helped clarify doubts and provided practical knowledge on how to identify and prevent child labour.
The initiative by the interns was well-received, significantly enhancing the children’s understanding of their rights and the importance of eradicating child labour. The event underscored the commitment of the Don Bosco Veedu organization to protect and empower vulnerable children through education and awareness.
