Don Bosco Veedu Society organized a two-day summer camp named “Wings 2k24” for girls
residing in various Child Care Institutions in the Trivandrum district. This program was
initiated at the request of Ms. Sahaniba Beegam, Chairperson of the Child Welfare
Committee, following the successful execution of a seven-day camp for boys in similar
institutions. A total of 46 children from four different homes participated in this enriching
experience.
The camp commenced with an inaugural ceremony, inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Saji Elambaseril,
Director of Don Bosco Veedu Society. Fr. Saji Elambaseril conducted the first session,
focusing on key principles for achieving a successful life. And the second session of the day
was led by Ms. Neha Joseph, Coordinator of DREAM Trivandrum. She discussed the topic of
healthy relationships, covering essential subtopics such as the distinction between good touch
and bad touch, pornographic addiction, and various adolescent issues. the students engaged in
a series of games led by Br. Feric Joshy. These activities were designed to foster teamwork
and cooperation among the children.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Ms. Sahaniba
Beegam, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Trivandrum; Ms. Chitralekha, DCPO,
Trivandrum; Rev. Fr. Jiji Kalavanal, Rector of Don Bosco Veedu Society, Trivandrum; and
Rev. Fr. Saji Elambaseril, Director of Don Bosco Veedu Society. During the ceremony, the
children performed various cultural programs, showcasing the skills and talents they had
developed during the camp. Prizes were distributed to recognize and reward the children’s
efforts and achievements.
The “Wings 2k24” summer camp was a significant success, providing the participating girls
with a platform to learn, engage in meaningful activities, and showcase their talents. The
involvement of various experts and the support from the Child Welfare Committee
highlighted the commitment to the welfare and development of the children. The camp
fostered a sense of community, teamwork, and personal growth among the participants,
making it a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.
