
A dynamic new initiative titled U-ACT (Youth in Action) was launched at Don Bosco Veedu, Trivandrum, in collaboration with Loyola College of Social Sciences, Sreekariyam, marking a milestone in youth-led community development efforts. The programme aims to engage young people as active agents of social change through participation, leadership, and service.The event was coordinated by Ms. Arunima, who efficiently guided the sessions and introduced the objectives of U-ACT. Mr. Amal opened the programme with a brief introduction, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings.Fr. Thomas Meckaden SDB, Director of Don Bosco Veedu, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of empowering youth to take charge of community transformation. The presidential address was delivered by Fr. Jiji Kalavanal SDB, Rector of Don Bosco Veedu, who appreciated the collaborative spirit behind the initiative.The programme was inaugurated by Professor Abey George, Associate Professor Emeritus, KILA, who inspired the youth with his address on the power of youth-led social action and community responsibility.Adding to the occasion, Rev. Fr. Sabu P. Thomas, Principal of Loyola College, and Fr. Saji S. J., Vice Principal, conveyed their felicitations, lauding the partnership between Don Bosco Veedu and Loyola College in promoting experiential learning and civic engagement among students.The event concluded with vibrant cultural performances by the students, symbolizing energy, creativity, and commitment to social good.
