Strengthened KISMAT Village Women through the Awareness Program on Personal Hygiene

Kozhikode Migrants’ Help Desk Organized an Awareness Programme on Personal Hygiene of Women at KISMAT Village, Vallathaypara, Kozhikode on 16th August 2023.

Kozhikode Migrants’ Help Desk took initiative to spread awareness among the guest workers especially of women on Personal Hygiene exclusively of Menstrual hygiene, menstrual cups, Usage of sanitary pads and its disposal on 16^th August 2023. The session began by introducing the resource person Sr. Alphy to the inmates of KISMAT Villagers and to the contractor of the Village by the Migrants’ Help Desk district coordinator Shri. Shanoy P M.

Sr. Alphy, the resource person of the day began her class with a question whether they use pads during menses.  To her surprise, they responded that neither they use pads during menstruation nor they are bother of the menstrual cycle. She explained in detail how to calculate next menstrual cycle and the importance to keep sanitary pads for personal hygiene. She also briefed easy way to dispose the pads after use. She introduced menstrual cups as easy and simple way to use during the menstrual periods. Guest workers were put forward a number of questions which were answered in a convincing manner.  MOS coordinator Sr. Gracy was present for the program and assisted the resource person for smooth handling the discussion. Finally, the contractor, Shri. Sudeer thanked everyone for organizing the program at his camp.

The session was really an effective one which reflected in their workers. One of the guest workers named Muksin Khatun aged 22 said that no one still on that day did not explain on the menstrual hygiene as she explained, the class was really an effective one and would follow the guidance provided during the session.
