Sewing Machines to Poor Women to Earn Income

An initiative by Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society in collaboration with National NGO’s Confederation of India

Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society distributed subsidized sewing machines to poor women from three slums in Trivandrum city in collaboration with National NGO’s Confederation of India on 2nd September 2023.  During the event, Mr. K. N Anadhakumar(National Chairman – NGO Federation) distributed the sewing machines and issued certificates to the women who have successfully completed the free tailoring program offered by Don Bosco Veedu Society.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Dr. Lekshmi Nair (Culinary Artist and Celebrity chef) advised the women who completed their tailoring program to find innovative ways to create market of their work and make a decent earning. She appreciated Don Bosco’s initiative for offering free tailoring training and providing subsidized sewing machines to the women to ensure them a livelihood.   

Rev. Fr. Jiji Kalavanal (Rector of Don Bosco Veedu), Fr. Saji Elambasseril (Director of Don Bosco Veedu), Fr. Dominic Kaniyantharayil (Asst. Director of Don Bosco Veedu), Mr. Jayakumar (District Secretary – NGO’s Federation), Mrs. Shine (Women’s Coordinator- NGO’s Federation) and other staff members of Don Bosco Veedu were present on the occasion.
