Railway Childline, Thiruvananthapuram, conducted a Sensitization Programme for electrical staff on October 15, 2022, at 9 a.m. Mrs. Zeena Sunil, Coordinator of RCHD, handled the session. The programme focused on spreading awareness about child rights and Childline activities. The programme started with an ice-breaking session. Mrs. Zeena (Coordinator, RCHD) discussed Childline activities and the importance of child rights.

Children’s rights are a subset of human rights where particular attention is to the rights of special protection and care afforded to minors. The field of child rights spans various fields, such as law, politics, religion, and morality. The coordinator introduced basic information about Childline activities and cases handled by the RCHD team. CHILDLINE 1098 is a phone number that spells hope for millions of children across India.

Childline works for the protection of the rights of all children in general. But its focus is on all children who need special care and protection, especially the more vulnerable sections. She also mentioned the cases they handled and the success stories of child rescue cases.

After the session, five electrical staff gave their feedback on the session. They conveyed their sincere gratitude to the RCHD team for providing valuable information and added that the programme was fruitful. Ms. Aiswarya Lawrence (RCHD Team Member) delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Jinesh (Electrical Section Engineer, TVC) shared his experience with Childline services and said that this programme helped him to know more about Childline services, activities, intervention programmes, case handling methods, successful stories, and rescue operations. He added that he would extend all kinds of support and help for the well-being of children. Mr. Jinesh said that they are interested to know more about Childline service, for which they need another session, and he promised to make all necessary arrangements for the session.

Railway Childline is an active and essential part of Childline. The outreach programs of the project mainly focused on child protection and providing awareness about Childline and its activities.
