School awareness program at Harbour School Vizhinjam

Don Bosco Sadan, Rehabilitation Centre for Boys at Monvila, Thiruvananthapuram was officially inaugurated by Shri. Antony Raju (Hon. Minister for Road Transport, Govt of Kerala) on 26 November 2022. The programme was graced with the presence of Fr. Jose Koyickal SDB (Provincial, Sacred Heart Province, Bangalore), Smt. Syamaladevi PP (Honourable Member, Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights), Shri. Kuriakose Conil (Senior Vice President and Zonal Head, Federal Bank, Ernakulam), Shri. Sreekumar SP (Film Actor), Adv. Shaniba Begum (Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Thiruvananthapuram), and other eminent guests.

The centre was a dream of Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society (BREADS) as part of its Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring (DREAM) programme. With a motto of ‘WAY TO SOBRIETY AND HEALTH’, Don Bosco Sadan started its services for children below 18 years like, counselling-Individual, Group, Family, Inpatient and Outpatient treatment, life skills training and recreation.

The programme was followed by a workshop on Increasing number of substance abuse among children, Drugs & Addictions, Impact on children, and family led by Shri. Gopakumar (Joint Excise Commissioner, Thiruvananthapuram), Dr. Anilkumar T V (Prof. and Head, Department of Psychiatry, Govt. Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram) which was attended by the programme stakeholders, staff and other guests.

BREADS also released its Annual Report (2021-2022) on this occasion. Shri. Antony Raju released the report and handed the first copy to Fr. Jose Koyickal SDB. BREADS acknowledges and appreciates the contributions of all its donor partners and local Don Bosco institutions in building a better future together. Thank you for making our mission possible.
