Promoting Well-being: Empowering Health and Hygiene among ISMs in Azheekkal, Kollam

On 29^th July, an essential outreach initiative was undertaken as part of KISMAT’s efforts to promote health, hygiene, and basic well-being among the Interstate Migrant community of Azheekkal, Kerala in collaboration with Prathyasa for Integrated Social Action. The program was specifically designed for 40 members of Interstate Migrants (ISMs) in the region. The focus of the event was to impart knowledge and awareness on health, hygiene practices, and measures to prevent seasonal diseases. The KISMAT state coordinator Mr John Sumit Jose took the sessions and to ensure a seamless and harmonious outreach effort. The entire program was conducted in collaboration with Prathyasa, thereby reinforcing the spirit of partnership and collective action in fostering community development.

This intervention in the new area aimed to instill a sense of consciousness regarding the availability of assistance from both non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and government departments. The participants were educated about the various support systems and resources accessible to them. Additionally, the program focused on disseminating crucial knowledge on maintaining personal health and hygiene practices, which play a vital role in promoting overall well-being. Furthermore, the attendees were equipped with practical measures to prevent and combat seasonal diseases that can affect the region. Through interactive sessions and engaging discussions, the event fostered an environment of learning, empowerment, and community support. As a result, it left a lasting impact, empowering the ISMs in Azheekkal with valuable information that will contribute to their improved quality of life and health
