Kozhikode Migrants Help Desk joined with All Kerala Catholic Congress and Jeevika Migrants’ Outreach Service in recognizing and appreciating the great service rendering to the state of Kerala by the guest workers in Kozhikode district especially in Thiruvampady area at the outset of International Labour Day.
The program began with the welcome note of Shri. Benny Kizhakaparambil (AKCC President of Thiruvampady unit) where he specifically promised all support to the guest workers in addressing conflict concerned with their stay and work in district. The program was inaugurated by Fr. Thomas Nagaparambil and he spoke to follow St. Joseph as a true model of a Worker who really loyal to his work and family. Fr. Deepak, MOS director
motivated the guest workers to ask for their rights as a worker without any hesitation during his felicitation speech. The official program was concluded with the vote of thanks by the district coordinator. The platform was opened to the guest workers where many of the guest workers sung songs in Hindi and sathari. They shared their happiness and concern with the fathers and other members in the team. The program concluded with the great dinner. There were about 30 guest workers who were mostly from Jharkhand and Odisha.
This program created a confidence among the guest workers to ask for their right and ensured them that there are people to whom can be approached at any time of emergency.
