DREAM Trivandrum in collaboration with the department of Women and Child
Development, conducted an awareness session for Anganwadi workers in the Trivandrum
district. The program intended to raise awareness among Anganwadi workers about the
increasing problems of addiction among children and youth, to provide information on the
signs and symptoms of addiction in young individuals and to offer strategies for preventing
addiction and supporting affected children and their families.
The session was attended by 60 Anganwadi workers from various centers across the
Trivandrum district. Representatives from the Department of Women and Child Development
were also present, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the initiative. The awareness
session was taken by Ms Neha Joseph, Coordinator DREAM Trivandrum. The awareness
session on the increasing addiction among children and youth, organized by DREAM
Trivandrum in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development, was a
significant step towards empowering Anganwadi workers to combat this pressing issue.
DREAM – Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring is a right based initiative by
Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society and Bangalore Rural Education And Development
Society to reduce the prevalence of drugs and other forms of addiction among children and
youth. The preventive education strategy is implemented through awareness programs,
counselling services and de addiction services.
