In observance of World No Tobacco Day, DREAM Trivandrum organized a sensitization
program aimed at raising public awareness about the dangers of tobacco use and promoting
the services offered by DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring). The
program was a significant initiative to engage the community in the fight against tobacco
addiction and to highlight the resources available for those seeking help. The primary focus
of the program was to make aware the public on the harmful effects of tobacco use and the
importance of a tobacco-free lifestyle. Volunteers actively engaged with the public in various
locations including the KSRTC, Railway station premises in Trivandrum, distributing
informational brochures and inform the public on the services provided by DREAM.
The program reached a wide audience, significantly increasing public awareness about the
dangers of tobacco use and the availability of support services. The success of the
sensitization program was evident even before its completion. During the event, an individual
who was in need of counseling services contacted the official number of DREAM
Trivandrum which was marked in the brochure. The immediate response from the public
highlighted the urgent need for such awareness programs and the effectiveness of the team’s
efforts in reaching out to those in need. This immediate response underscores the critical
impact of the program and the importance of making information about support services
readily accessible to the public.
The sensitization program conducted by DREAM Trivandrum on World No Tobacco Day at
the KSRTC Bus Stand and railway station premises was a resounding success. Not only did it
increase public awareness about the counseling services available for addiction, but it also
resulted in immediate action from an individual seeking help. This success story
demonstrates the effectiveness of targeted outreach programs in addressing the pressing issue
of addiction and highlights the essential role of DREAM Trivandrum in providing vital
support to the community.
