As part of its efforts to raise awareness about drug abuse and promote healthy living,
the DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring) Project organized an
important awareness session at Government High School, Keezharoor. The main
goal of the session was to teach students about the dangers of drug use and
encourage them to live a drug-free life.
The session was led by Ms. Neha Joseph, Coordinator of the DREAM Project, and
Ms. Anooja, Counselor of the project. They shared important information about the
harmful effects of drug addiction on the body, mind, and social life. They explained
how drug abuse can negatively impact school performance, relationships with family
and friends, and future goals. The session began with a presentation that showed
real-life examples of how drugs can affect people’s lives. The facilitators explained
the science behind addiction and how it can cause serious health problems and
harm family life. The program encouraged students to join in discussions and share
their thoughts.
Students were given practical advice on how to handle peer pressure, recognize
early signs of addiction, and seek help from trusted adults, teachers, or counsellors.
The facilitators also talked about the importance of having a support system to help
prevent drug abuse. Throughout the session, the students showed great interest and
asked thoughtful questions about addiction, prevention, and recovery. The facilitators
answered these questions and shared useful tips for making smart decisions and
staying away from drugs. The awareness program at Government High School,
Keezharoor was a big success, supporting the DREAM Project’s mission to help
young people stay informed and lead a drug-free life.
