An awareness program on drug abuse was conducted at Govt. VHSE, Kottukal, under the DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring) Project. The session aimed to educate students about the dangers of drug use and the importance of making healthy life choices. The session was led by Ms. Neha Joseph, Coordinator of DREAM Trivandrum, and Ms. Anooja, Counselor with DREAM. They explained how drug use affects not only physical health but also mental well-being, academic performance, and relationships with family and friends. The session began with a visual presentation that included real-life examples and illustrations to highlight the harmful effects of drug addiction. The facilitators discussed how substance abuse can lead to serious health problems, impact personal and family life, and limit future opportunities. The program encouraged student participation through discussions and activities. The facilitators guided students on how to handle peer pressure and recognize the early signs of addiction. They also emphasized the importance of seeking support from trusted adults, teachers, or counselors when facing such challenges. The students showed great enthusiasm, actively engaging in the session and asking thoughtful questions about drug addiction and its consequences. The session helped them gain valuable knowledge and practical strategies to make informed decisions. This awareness program at Govt. VHSE, Kottukal reinforced the DREAM Project’s mission to build a drug-free society by empowering young minds with education and guidance.
