Don Bosco Veedu Open Shelter Home celebrated the vibrant festival of Onam with great joy and enthusiasm on 13th September 2024. The celebrations commenced at 11:00 a.m. with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Fr. Jiji Kalavanal (Rector Don Bosco Veedu), Fr. Joby Sebastian (Director Don Bosco Nivas), and Fr. Sebastian kalambadan (Vicar, Shayamatha Church Manacaud), The staff and children from the shelter home also participated in the event, adding to the festive spirit.
The Inaugural ceremony was followed by cultural programs began at 12:00 p.m. Fr. Jiji Kalavanal delivered the Onam message, emphasizing the significance of unity, tradition, and sharing during this auspicious festival.
The highlight of the event was the enchanting ‘Thiruvathira Kali’, performed by the staff and children of the shelter home, which was met with applause and appreciation. The traditional dance beautifully reflected the essence of Kerala culture. The celebrations continued with of traditional Onapattu, bringing the spirit of Onam to life.
The children were gifted to receive Onakodi, the customary Onam attire, symbolizing the generosity and spirit of the festival. The celebrations concluded with Onam Sadya.
