A day for books, reading and copyright. That’s World Book Day. World Book Day is celebrated every year on April 23. The day is organized by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and copyright.

The day was first celebrated in 1995, and April 23 was first linked to books by booksellers in Spain in 1923. The day was chosen because it was the death anniversary of the famous writer Michael de Cervantes.  Over the years, more and more countries have started celebrating Book Day. The day soon became World Book Day. This year’s Book Day has another special significance. It is also the 400th death anniversary of Shakespeare. Mr. Emmanuel SIlas and Ms. Jistina spoke about the children of Don Bosco Nivas on this day, such as reading and book discussions, availability of books, creating the conditions for book publishing, and the consideration to be shown to copyright, libraries, bookstores, etc.
