Creating awareness on the effects of drugs and addiction among children and youth

A good student forms a virtuous society means which is graft-less, politically balanced, economically standard, and stands on moral grounds. The nation with integrity stands forever. The students are prospective heirs of the nation. Having an awareness on the current trends is vital. The teen brain is in the process of maturing. In general, it’s more focused on rewards and taking risks than the adult brain. At the same time, teenagers push parents for greater freedom as teens begin to explore their personality. As part of providing the same, DREAM Trivandrum in collaboration organized awareness program for the students in PSNM UP School, Vellanad. The program was conducted with the delight support of the students and staffs from PSNM UP School. On 12 September 2023 the awareness session was done in the school named PSNM UP School, Vellanad., Trivandrum District. Teens who experiment with drugs and other substances put their health and safety at risk. The teen brain is particularly vulnerable to being rewired by substances that overload the reward circuits in the brain. Help prevent teen drug abuse by talking to the teen about the consequences of using drugs and the importance of making healthy choices. The programmes also include goals to increase performance, awareness about harmful effects of drugs use and learning to manage mood and emotions. It’s aim is a global society free of drug abuse and focus on psychosocial development than only prevention of target drug use as it has the potential to improve various aspects of a person’s development.

DREAM – Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring is the right based initiative by Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society and Bangalore Rural Education And Development Society to reduce the prevalence of drugs and substances among the children and youth in the society through the preventive education strategy. Under the project the team provides Awareness programs counseling services and de addiction services to achieve the objective.
