DREAM Trivandrum organized an in-depth awareness program at MRMKMHSS Edavai
aimed at educating students about the risks of drug addiction and other forms of addictive
behavior. The session covered a range of important topics, including the realities of drug
addiction, its physical and mental health effects, the underlying science of addiction, and
common issues faced by adolescents during this critical period. The students actively
participated in the interactive discussions, sharing their thoughts and concerns.
The session was led by Ms. Neha Joseph, Coordinator of DREAM Trivandrum, and Ms.
Anooja R, Counselor of DREAM Trivandrum. Both facilitators provided valuable insights
into the psychological and social factors that contribute to addiction, helping students better
understand how addiction can affect their lives and those around them. Through engaging
activities and real-life examples, the session aimed to equip students with the knowledge to
make informed choices and resist peer pressure.
DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring), an initiative by BREADS
(Bangalore Rural Education and Development Society), is dedicated to reducing the
prevalence of drugs and addiction among children and young people. The project operates in
partnership with the Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society and offers preventive education,
counseling, and de-addiction services. These services are provided free of cost to
beneficiaries, ensuring that support is accessible to all. The program’s ultimate goal is to
foster a drug-free environment by promoting awareness, offering intervention services, and
providing long-term support to at-risk youth.
