Don Bosco Veedu organized a Mushroom Cultivation Training Programme for 30 women from the parish and MSK Nagar community, Karimadom. The training, led by Fr. Sojan, included two interactive sessions with live demonstrations, introducing simplified and advanced methods of mushroom farming.
As part of the programme, mushroom kits were distributed among participants to begin home cultivation. The sessions also covered the nutritional and economic benefits of mushrooms, enabling women to explore it as a source of income.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Fr. Jiji Kalavanal (Rector of Don Bosco Veedu), Fr. Thomas Meckaden (Director of Don Bosco Veedu), Salesian Cooperators President, and Coordinators. Their encouragement reinforced the significance of women’s empowerment through skill development.
The initiative is expected to help women adopt mushroom cultivation as a sustainable livelihood option, enhancing both their family income and health.
