Don Bosco Veedu Society hosted an orientation visit for students from Sanathana Arts and Science College, Kottappara, Kasaragod, offering them an opportunity to experience child-centered community development in practice.
The program began with an introductory session by Fr. Thomas Mekkaden, Director of Don Bosco Nivas, who welcomed the students and shared insights on Don Bosco Veedu’s mission of protecting and empowering vulnerable children and youth.
This was followed by an interactive session led by Mr. Akhil Devasia, who engaged the visiting students through discussions and participatory activities. The students actively took part in the exercises, reflecting on the real-life applications of social work principles and the importance of community engagement in their professional journey.
The children under Don Bosco Veedu’s care also joined the program, making the exchange more lively and meaningful. The orientation ended on a note of mutual learning, with students expressing their appreciation for the exposure and the warmth they received.
The visit not only familiarized the students with Don Bosco Veedu’s initiatives but also highlighted the need for more such academic-community collaborations that bridge theory and practice.
