"Participants of Wings 2025 Camp, organized by Don Bosco Veedu Society in collaboration with CWC and DCPU, joyfully showcase their talents, crafts, and vibrant spirit during two days of learning, self-discovery, and celebration at the camp held on April 23-24, 2025."

The two-day residential girls camp, Wings 2025, was organized by Don Bosco Veedu Society in collaboration with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) on 23rd and 24th April 2025, with the participation of 49 girls from four shelter homes—Sree Chithra Home, Anandanilayam, Yatheemkhana (TVM), and Hindumahilamandiram. The camp aimed to provide a safe and nurturing space for the girls to explore their individuality, develop self-confidence, and gain knowledge on key areas of personal growth and wellbeing. The first day focused on self-awareness and emotional expression, with sessions like The Art of Becoming led by Mr. Akhil and Mr. Arun, followed by Discovering Self through group activities, games, and role plays facilitated by Ms. Anooja. The second day emphasized future possibilities and health awareness through sessions such as Pathways to Possibility by Ms. Kavya and Healthy Periods, Healthy You by Ms. Saranya K.M. A vibrant talent show, facilitated by Mr. Rony Thomas, provided a platform for the participants to showcase their skills in singing, dancing, storytelling, and other creative performances, boosting their self-esteem and fostering peer encouragement. In addition to the performances, the children proudly exhibited their handmade crafts, which reflected their creativity, patience, and imagination.

The camp concluded with a meaningful and lively valedictory function that included a prayer song, welcome speech by Ms. Anooja, presidential address by Fr. Saji Elambasseril SDB, and a keynote address by Ms. Suja S.J. (DCPO, Trivandrum). Cultural performances by the children from all four shelter homes added vibrancy and joy to the session. Prizes were distributed to recognize the children’s participation and talents, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Rony Thomas. The overall atmosphere was filled with warmth, motivation, and camaraderie, and the experience significantly contributed to the girls’ emotional and social development. The camp served not only as a platform for learning and self-expression but also as a reminder of their potential and worth, reinforcing the importance of continued support and empowerment for children in shelter homes.
