On November 15, 2024, a group of 20 students from the Department of Social Work at CHMM College for Advanced Studies, Chavarcode, visited Don Bosco Veedu in Thampanoor as part of an educational exposure visit. Accompanied by two faculty members, the students, including 12 from the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program and 8 from the Master of Social Work (MSW) program, were warmly received by the team at Don Bosco Veedu.
The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand experience of the social work practices implemented by the organization. During the session, Mr. Akhil Devasia, an experienced social worker, conducted a detailed class, offering valuable insights into the critical social issues addressed by Don Bosco Veedu and the various community service initiatives they undertake. This exposure is seen as an excellent opportunity for students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practice, enhancing their understanding of social work in action.
The visit proved to be an enriching experience, reinforcing the importance of fieldwork in the development of social work professionals. The department looks forward to organizing similar visits in the future, further empowering students to make meaningful contributions to society.
