A program on drug awareness was held at RKDNSS High School in Sasthamangalam, organized by the DREAM Project. The main goal of the program was to teach students about the dangers of drug use and why it is important to stay away from drugs. The event was led by Ms. Neha Joseph, the Coordinator of DREAM Trivandrum, along with Ms. Anooja, the project’s counsellor. The team talked about how drugs can ruin relationships with family and friends, as people using drugs often make poor choices that can hurt those around them. The session started with a presentation that showed simple pictures and examples. These visuals helped the students understand how drug use affects health, mental well-being, and future goals. Real-life stories of people who struggled with addiction were shared during the program. These stories helped students see how serious drug addiction can be and how it affects people’s lives in many ways. The team also discussed how drugs can make it difficult for people to reach their dreams and goals.

The program was designed to be interactive, encouraging students to participate, ask questions, and share their own thoughts and experiences. This made the session more engaging and allowed students to discuss common challenges, like dealing with peer pressure. The team gave advice on how to recognize early signs of addiction and encouraged students to seek help from trusted adults, teachers, or counsellors if they ever felt pressured or had concerns about substance use. Overall, the drug awareness program at RKDNSS High School highlighted the DREAM Project’s dedication to building a drug-free community. The students left with a better understanding of the importance of staying drug-free, and many shared that they felt more confident in making healthy choices for their future.
