Thiruvananthapuram, June 12, 2024 In observance of World Day Against Child Labour, trainees Rubisri and Remya conducted a comprehensive awareness program for the inmates of the Don Bosco Veedu shelter home. This initiative aimed to educate and inform the residents about the critical issue of child labour. The awareness program, organized by the trainees, included detailed discussions on the meaning of child labour, its underlying causes, and the various strategies for its prevention. The trainees emphasized the importance of understanding the detrimental impacts of child labour on society and the individual lives of children.
To provide a legal perspective, the trainees outlined the key Acts and policies enacted by the government aimed at eradicating child labour. They also highlighted the role of Childline, a crucial helpline dedicated to protecting children from exploitation and providing them with necessary support.
In addition to the informative session, the interns also prepared a vibrant poster to visually enhance awareness about child labour and also focused more on 2024 theme “Let’s act on our commitment: end child labour”. The poster served as an effective tool to summarize the key points and make the information accessible to all inmates. This awareness program by the Don Bosco Veedu organization marks a significant step towards educating vulnerable communities about child labour and encouraging collective efforts to combat this social issue.
