Trivandrum, June 5, 2024 The Don Bosco Veedu NGO, in collaboration with the children and local residents of Karimadom Colony in Trivandrum district, observed World Environment Day with great enthusiasm. The theme for this year, “Ecosystem Restoration,” emphasized the critical need for reviving and protecting natural ecosystems globally.
Recognizing the importance of this day, the event aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation among the community. Hazina, Social worker of Karimadom colony invited Fr. Joby Sebastin, Director of Don Bosco Veedu society, also addressed children on this day. Two dedicated interns Rubisri R and Anusha of Amrita University, Coimbatore along with the NGO coordinator Akhil Devasya, joined hands with the children and residents to mark the occasion and oriented about the importance of education. A special session was organized where participants planted a sapling, symbolizing hope and commitment to a greener future.
The sapling was planted by one of the students who was part of the NGO’s evening school, highlighting the role of young generations as future saviors of the environment. This act served as a poignant reminder of the collective responsibility to nurture and protect our planet. The event not only fostered a sense of community but also educated participants on the importance of environmental stewardship.
