In a concerted effort to uplift and empower the Anganwadi helpers in the local community, DREAM Trivandrum recently organized a comprehensive Life Skills Training Session. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Maranallor Panchayath, aimed to equip Anganwadi helpers with essential life skills, fostering personal and professional development. The primary goals of the training session were to enhance the participants’ communication skills, time management, stress management, and interpersonal skills. Recognizing the pivotal role Anganwadi helpers play in the community, the program aimed to provide them with tools to navigate the challenges of their profession effectively. In the sessions various life skills were discussed. Practical exercises, including role-playing and group discussions, were employed to improve both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Participants were encouraged to share their experiences, fostering an environment of open communication and mutual learning. Strategies for efficient time management were discussed, tailored to the unique demands of the Anganwadi helpers’ responsibilities. The session provided hands-on tips for setting priorities and organizing tasks to maximize productivity. Stress management techniques, including mindfulness and relaxation exercises, were introduced to help participants cope with the challenges of their demanding roles. Real-world scenarios were explored to provide practical insights into identifying and managing stress in daily life. The collaboration between DREAM Trivandrum and Maranallor Panchayath showcased a united front in addressing community needs. Discussions during the training session extended beyond immediate skill-building to explore future collaborative initiatives that could further benefit the local community. Participant feedback indicated a positive reception of the training, with many expressing newfound confidence in applying the acquired life skills in both personal and professional settings. The impact assessment revealed an increased sense of empowerment among the Anganwadi helpers.
