Palakkad Migrants’ Help Desk took initiative to forewarn the guest workers on the need to take Precautions during the Rainy Season in view of minimizing seasonal diseases together with medical check ups in collaboration with Migrants Suraksha Project and ESAF small finance bank on 13th June 2023. The program began with the welcoming words of Suraksha Project counsellor Mr. Adith and then followed by the inauguration of the program by the company HR Mr. Sunil Kumar where he insisted the guest workers to follow all the hygiene protocols and he counselled them to not to throw any plastic bottles or any other plastic things in the company compounds.
KISMAT district coordinator Mr. Shanoy handled the awareness session where he advised the guest workers to be vigilant to not to get affected with dengue fever, influenza, leptospirosis, Zika which are more prevalent during the rainy season. He urged them to have a watch on the prolonged fever and asked them not to follow self-medication rather to get correct guidance from a recognized medical practitioner. He also insisted the guest workers to keep the house and company and its premises neat and clean that would help to prevent dengue, Zika like mosquito borne diseases. After the concluding session, guest workers made use the availability of the doctors and medicines which were provided with the CSR program of ESAF small finance bank. Migrant Suraksha Project team conducted screening of AIDS under the leadership of the project counsellor Shri. Adith. There were about 80 guest workers who benefited from the camp. The guest workers who took part in the camp were mainly from Odisha, Assam, Bihar and Tamil Nādu.
The program helped the guest workers to have free consultation with the doctors for number of problems in which some cases were not addressed earlier and other were follow up visit. The number of cases on body pain and problem with stomach upset were on high scale in the camp.
