An event was organised by the Migrant Help Desk Kottayam and Migrant Help Desk Kollam in collaboration with Vimukthi Mission, Alappuzha. An awareness session highlighting the dangers of tobacco use was conducted for the guest workers in the Alappuzha district as part of observing Anti – Tobacco Day. The programme took place at the Kakkazhom campsite in Ambalapuzha and witnessed a gathering of approximately 45 guest workers. Leading the session was Ms. Anju (Coordinator Vimukthi Mission, Alappuzha) who expertly explained the physical and mental implications of consuming tobacco products. To ensure an effective communication among the guest workers, the session was translated into Hindi by the Migrant Help Desk coordinator of Kottayam. The informative session covered various aspects, including the harmful effects of tobacco consumption on an individual’s health, both physically and mentally. The resource person also shed light on the legal aspects of selling and purchasing tobacco products, emphasizing the consequences associated with such actions. In the end, Vote of thanks was delivered by Migrant Help Desk Kollam and she played a vital role while mobilizing the guest workers for this programme.
