The summer camp was mainly a fun way of learning for the children where different methods were adopted to improve the learning level over the period of 2 weeks of the summer holidays. Like that, Marvel camp took on different methodology to achieve its objectives. Marvel successfully completed its 5th day of venture towards attaining the envisioned objectives.
The day began by following the general time table which includes meditation, exercise, morning job etc. The initial half of the day started with communicative English lectures taken by Br. Joseph Xavier. Verbs are very important for language development because they allow children to start building early sentences. Every sentence needs a verb. And the choice of verb determines many of the grammatical forms in a sentence.
Followed by this, a session on the topic ‘Art of public speaking’ was organised which was conducted by Mr. Praveen S.K, a well-known motivation speaker and career counsellor in Thiruvananthapuram. Public speaking, while some kids take to it naturally, others tend to be more fearful of standing and talking in front of a crowd. Public speaking helps them to progress in improved communication skills, increased self-esteem, planning experience and the power of execution. Children attended the session with great ardour by actively interacting with the resource person.
Together with this, a night game named ‘Night olympics’ was coordinated under the supervision of Br. Ajil Skaria which incorporated the fun and miniature version of various olympic games. Team ‘Wanda Vision’ secured the winning title after a competitive race. MIRACLE is a project that assists children who have been separated from their primary carers to keep them out of the system.
