While education is important, extracurricular activities are also important in helping develop a child’s talents, interests, and passions. One particularly enriching activity is learning to play a musical instrument. There has long been a correlation between musical training and academic success, but there are other benefits too. Music helps the brain to develop, relieves stress, and teaches children to focus.
‘Marvel Studios’ is one of the prime attractions of the Marvel camp. The programme encompasses four musical instrument learning sessions, primarily keyboard, guitar, chenda, and flute. Children chose their musical instrument based on their interests. Guitar sessions are taken by Br. Ajil, keyboard by Br. Joseph Xavier, flute by Ms. Ann Mary, and chenda by Mr. Saikrishna.
The prime objective of ‘Marvel Studios’ is that by engaging in musical instrument learning sessions, a positive impact on the child’s academic performance can be achieved, helping them develop social skills and offering an opportunity for creativity essential to the child’s development. All the camp participants have a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards this specific programme. ‘Marvel Studios’ is scheduled for 14 days and envisions continuing after the camp.
MIRACLE is a project that assists children who have been separated from their primary carers to keep them out of the system. MIRACLE provides skill training, English training, counselling, and financial assistance for the education of 40 children in the Trivandrum district.
