Children attending the session on the topic “Interpersonal Interaction” with Neha Joseph, District Coordinator, DREAM Trivandrum.
English language helps children to communicate well. However, due to lack of proper training in schools, they often find it difficult to learn the language effectively. Grammar is something the children often find troublesome due to lack of interesting techniques their teachers employ.
To bridge this gap and to instil curiosity in the children, MARVEL camp has inculcated an English session named ‘Fun with English’. The children learn English grammar, starting with tenses and sentence structuring. This helps them to improve their reading and writing skills. They are also encouraged to interact in English during the camp. This helps them overcome their fear to use the language. Camp is also a place where they get an opportunity to come out of their comfort zones.
Together with this, children attended the session on the topic “Interpersonal Interaction”. The session was coordinated by Neha Joseph, District Coordinator, DREAM Trivandrum. Children actively participated in the session by asking relevant questions and providing inputs. The session incorporated several activities that demonstrate the theoretical aspects related to the subject so that the children could easily relate.
The children grasp every concept really well. They also indulge in practical exercises where they have to use their creativity, retention and cognition. This also helps the children to memorize and understand the concept which in turn helps improve their language.
MIRACLE is a project that assists children who have been separated from their primary carers to keep them out of the system. MIRACLE provides skill training, English training, counselling, and financial assistance for the education of 40 children in the Trivandrum district.
