The third day of the 14-day residential summer camp proved to be an unforgettable occasion for all the enthusiastic children. The day commenced with a communicative English session taken by Br. Joseph Xavier. Children were taught the different forms of verbs. Teaching functional aspects of English is aimed at encouraging active learning. It focuses on building on already existing speaking and writing skills to teach them through immersion in the language. Students are encouraged to talk in English and not use their native language in the class.

This was followed by an engaging session on the topic “Coping with Stress and Emotions,” coordinated by the resource persons of the project DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring), which encompassed the learnings of anger management, stress management, and various activities. The session taught the children to adopt behaviours that are practical and applicable during stressful and angry situations, thereby decreasing the risk of psychological distress and preserving health and well-being.

With the ample supervision of camp organisers, all the programmes, such as Marvel Studios (the musical instrument session), games, study sessions, and the daily evaluation on general knowledge and communicative English, were sprightly organised without any obstruction. The day concluded with an amusing night programme named “Music Mojo”, which was coordinated by Br. Ajil and Br. Joseph Xavier. Children were exposed to unique and entertaining group activities that are related to music.

Miracle is a project that assists children who have been separated from their primary carers to keep them out of the system. MIRACLE provides skill training, English training, counselling, and financial assistance for the education of 40 children in the Trivandrum district.
