Palakkad Migrants’ Help Desk organized medical and Anti-Drugs awareness programme for the guest workers in collaboration with Migrants Suraksha Project at Cheerakuzhy Rubber Nursery on 25th April 2023. The program began with the welcoming words of Suraksha Project counsellor Mr. Adith and then followed by the inauguration of the program by the ward member Mrs. Prabhavathy where she insisted the guest workers to follow all the hygiene protocols and asked them to abstain from all the addictive substances.
KISMAT district coordinator Mr. Shanoy took awareness class on the consequences of the addictive substances and its effects on the human body. He insisted the guest workers that a momentary happiness that can bring permanent misery to life of the person and his family who are addicted to any kind of the substance. He also spoke that such kind of substance can even destruct the whole nation. After the concluding session, guest workers made use the availability of the doctors and medicines. Migrant Suraksha Project team conducted screening of AIDS under the leadership of the project counsellor Shri. Adith. There were about 65 guest workers who benefited from the camp. The guest workers who took part in the camp were mainly from Odisha and Assam.
The program helped the guest workers to have free consultation with the doctors for number of problems which were not addressed yet due to their financial struggle. Some of the guest workers mentioned that nobody visited them and spoke to them openly on the such a dangerous consequence of drugs in our body. The class was really informative and we would follow the guidance given in the class.
