Guest workers in Kozhikode district especially of the Adhivasi people from the state of Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal were experienced a state of home away from home with Observance of the festival SARHUL Parb at Socio – Religious Center, Malaparamba in collaboration of both Kerala Interstate Migrants Alliance for Transformation and Jeevika Migrants Outreach Service on 12th February 2023. The grand celebration of the day began with the Holy Mass at SRC church where Fr. Deepak SJ remained as main celebrant that was led the guest workers to the divinity. The guest workers were in full of beans in preparing food for the day by themselves at the center for more than hindered people.
The official program began with the warm welcoming words of Fr. Deepak followed by the presidential address by Smt. Alphonsa, councilor of Kozhikode corporation. She really thanked the guest workers for their contribution to the state and offered all support to them
at any time of emergency. Thereafter Rev.Fr. Jenson, Vikar General of Kozhikode Diocese officially inaugurated the program insisting the guest workers to have strong dream in their life which will be a source of energy to go ahead in life. Followed by many cultural events were staged by the guest workers who came from different areas of district. Finally, all were thanked by Sr. Gracy, coordinator of Jeevika Migrants Outreach Service for the support and contribution to make the day a grand success. After having the lunch, guest workers enjoyed their traditional dance at the open ground. The number of guest workers attended the program exceeded 150 mainly residing at Mavoor, Kalpally, Thiruvampady and Edavannapara.
The program helped to bring a fresh energy among the guest workers from the tiresome of months long heavy work as well as creating a family atmosphere and ensuring them that someone is there to support in their struggles.
